The people of Judah honesty thought they were going to die. Three, large, bloodthirsty armies were heading their way, threatening to kill them all and take the land that God had given them. (2 Chronicles 20 describes the entire event.)
But God had other plans. He intervened, setting ambushes against them and caused them to literally kill each other. Judah won the battle without lifting a sword. And, God allowed them to take all the valuables, jewelry, livestock and more from their enemies. It took them three days to gather it all up!
Today, we might not be in actual battles like this but we do have battles in areas of health, careers, businesses, finances, relationships, etc. But, just as God did for the people of Judah, He is able to deliver us and even make us benefit from our battles. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. The key lies in the words that the Lord told His people when they sought Him for guidance:
“Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of the great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.” – 2 Chron 20:15
Whatever your battle is today, God wants you, His child, to give that battle over to Him and watch Him take care of your enemies. We are so used to fighting our own battles that we often find it hard to believe God wants to take on our battles and do the fighting for us.
Our only fight is to have faith and rest in God. The battle is the Lord’s!
